Content and qualifications
The Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering is a continuation on the Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering and it offers a deeper and broader insight into the skills and knowledge of designing architectural structures of all types: designing and maintaining roads; analyzing and designing structures related to water exploitation and flood protection, and the knowledge on basis of which it is possible to define measures necessary for environmental protection during construction. The duration of the program is one year, or two semesters, and the study is credited with 60 ETCS. The content of the study focuses on preparation for performing the tasks within the area of responsibility of a structural designer of all construction structures; tasks of a consultant in the field of structural design; tasks of construction supervisor; tasks of a manager of all activities related to the construction of structures in the areas of: building construction, hydraulic engineering and civil engineering. The holders of this degree also have the opportunity to continue their education in a doctoral study program.

Expected competencies
In the course of the program, students develop competencies based on knowledge from natural, social and technical sciences which enable them to conduct complex analyses and solve complex engineering challenges in the field. At the same time, during the program, skills for independent research are developed in order to successfully apply different models and methodological principles in practical work in construction. The candidates’ competencies include managerial training and coordination with initiatives towards professional development and lifelong learning. Apart from that, graduates of this study program possess the skills of self-sufficient and autonomous decision-making – identifying, defining and solving complex construction challenges. Finally, the program trains experts in specialized areas of construction: load-bearing structures, environmental protection, construction organization and management.
