Content and qualifications
The Doctoral Program in Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Bihać, is interdisciplinary in nature. It is organized over six semesters and carries 180 ECTS credits. In the first semester, students take four compulsory courses; in the second semester, they take three elective courses depending on their chosen track; in the third semester, each student conducts an individual research project and publishes a paper in a journal or presents at an international conference; in the fourth semester, the doctoral dissertation project is developed and defended; in the fifth semester, the doctoral dissertation is registered and written; and in the sixth semester, the dissertation is publicly defended upon completion. Upon successful completion of the Doctoral Program in Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Bihać, the academic title awarded is Doctor of Legal Sciences, with specialization in Civil, Criminal, Constitutional, or European Law.

Expected Competencies
By obtaining the scientific degree of Doctor of Legal Sciences, individuals acquire the ability to apply knowledge, skills, and personal, social, and methodological competencies in the workplace, as well as in their personal and professional development. Completion of the Doctoral Program in Law provides the necessary prerequisites for further development of a research career within academic and scientific institutions, as well as other organizations and institutions. Doctoral graduates have opportunities for employment in both the public and private sectors, within government bodies, institutions, agencies, and companies engaged in legal activities or possessing legal departments. Therefore, holders of a Ph.D. in Law have a wide range of potential career paths, from traditional legal professions to roles in public administration, political life, the business sector, international organizations, and particularly in education and scientific research.
