Science Day Celebrated at the University of Bihać

World Science Day for Peace and Development was celebrated on 13 November 2025 at the Faculty for Technical Engineering amphitheatre. The event, organized by the University of Bihać in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Una-Sana Canton, brought together professors, students, government representatives, and other guests to highlight the importance of science, research, innovation, and international cooperation. Following welcome remarks from representatives of the Government of the Una-Sana Canton and the Rector of the University of Bihać, Prof.Dr. Atif Hodžić, the introductory lecture was delivered by Prof.Dr. Nevzet Veladžić, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation. He emphasized the vital role of science in advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and nurturing young researchers. Prof.Dr. Halid Makić presented the University’s most significant research projects, highlighting their impact and relevance, while Prof.Dr. Bernadin Ibrahimpašić, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Student Affairs, showcased outstanding student work across all study cycles, including master’s theses. Two panel discussions were held: “Innovation Through Collaboration – From Idea to Application” and “Young Researchers – Scientific Research and International Experiences.” The first panel featured Prof.Dr. Fatka Kulenović, initiator of the subsidized student meals project at the University of Bihać; students Suad Kucalović and Hadis Mahmutović, who developed and implemented the program; and Adisa Eminoglu, representing the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Una-Sana Canton, which financed the project. The discussion highlighted the importance of cooperation between academia and industry, noting that the project has brought significant improvements to student welfare. The second panel gathered emerging scholars Merisa Nesimović, Amar Redžepagić, Adna Kazaferović, and Azra Toroman. They presented their international research experiences, shared key findings from their studies, and showcased their master’s theses. The panel underscored the importance of networking, collaboration, and active involvement of young researchers in scientific processes. The celebration of Science Day demonstrated that the collaborative efforts of professors, students, and institutions produce tangible results and reaffirm the University of Bihać’s commitment to advancing science, fostering innovation, and supporting new generations of researchers.
