On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the exhibition Stranci – On Being a Stranger by Dr. Irfan Hošić, professor at the Department of Textile Design, Faculty for Technical Engineering, University of Bihać, was opened at the < rotor > Center for Contemporary Art in Graz. Acting as the exhibition’s curator, Hošić brought together twelve artistic and documentary positions related to Bosnia and Herzegovina, each exploring the notion of the stranger from legal, political, social, and cultural perspectives. The exhibition examines perspectives such as those of refugees and migrants, further highlighting the ambivalence inherent in concepts like identity, statelessness, and displacement. The selected artworks and documentary artifacts reflect the positions of individuals who cannot be easily categorized in legal terms, expressing specific viewpoints through their varied socio-political statuses. The < rotor > Center for Contemporary Art in Graz has assumed the role of a platform for dialogue, amplifying voices that symbolize a counter-politics shaped by displacement, migration, and unresolved citizenship. The exhibition will remain open until December 20, 2025, and will serve as a platform for continued engagement through a discursive program taking place throughout its duration. The exhibition features artists Mladen Bundalo, Mirza Čizmić, Suada Demirović, Sanela Jahić, Amer Kobašlija, Mirko Marić, Irma Markulin, Mladen Miljanović, Aida Šehović, Endi Pošković, Saša Tatić, as well as photographs of anonymous migrants. The exhibition is realized in collaboration with the Center for Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz. More information is available on the official website of the < rotor > Center for Contemporary Art.
