American cultural anthropologist Prof. Dr. Elissa Helms from Central European University in Budapest (Hungary) will stay at the Faculty of Pedagogy of the University of Bihać for ten months starting from September 2019. Research related to global migration and the fact of increased concentration of migrants and refugees in this part of Bosnia and Herzegovina were reasons of her arrival to Bihać. The project is called “Borders and Affiliation. Responses to Migration in a Bosnian City on the Border with the European Union” was funded by her home institution. During her stay at the University of Bihać Prof. Dr. Helms plans to hold several lectures and workshops for students and teachers of our University.
Research approach of Prof. Dr. Elissa Helms is interdisciplinary with a focus on ethnographic methodology. A kind of advantage of her research is the fact that she will conduct research in Bihać living with her family in, and that through local everyday life such as work, school and leisure, he will search for the specifics and characteristics of life in Bihać during the migrant crisis.
More information about Prof. Dr. Elissa Helms can be found on the official website of the Central European Univeristy.
