Professor Atif Hodžić was born in 1962 in Bosanska Otoka, where he completed his primary education. He completed his secondary education in Bosanska Krupa. In 1988, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Sarajevo at the Department of Mechanical Wood Technology. Immediately after finishing his studies, he started gaining professional work experience at ŠIPAD "Una" as a production manager at the Bosanska Krupa Furniture Factory, as well as the technical director and director of the Chair Factory in Bužim. Between 1992 and 2001, he was employed at the Vocational High School "Safet Krupić" in Bosanska Krupa, and at the Higher Technical School, i.e. Technical Faculty, in Bihać. In the period between 2001 and 2006, he held the office of Minister of Economy, acting Minister of Internal Affairs and the President of the Una-Sana Canton Government, and he was also a representative in the Una-Sana Canton Assembly.

At the Technical Faculty of the University of Bihać, he defended his master’s thesis “Modified systems of computer control in wood drying process” in 2006, and thus obtained the degree of Master of Technical Sciences. At the same institution, in 2010, he obtained the title of Doctor of Technical Sciences in the field of woodworking technology, with the dissertation entitled “Mathematical modelling and optimization of drying process in woodworking”.

Since November 2006, he has been employed at the Technical Faculty of the University of Bihać, and has been an associate professor since October 2020. From 2010 to 2023, he was the dean of the Technical Faculty, and in June 2023, he was elected for the position of Vice-Rector for Finance and Development at the University of Bihać.

Professor Hodžić actively speaks German. He is married and father of two children.
