Programme Overview and Qualifications
The Management and Marketing in Tourism programme at the Faculty of Economics, University of Bihać, is organised as a First Cycle (undergraduate) study lasting three years, with a total of 180 ECTS credits. This educational profile is designed to respond to the need for recognising tourism trends with the aim of launching one's own business and/or preparing tourism organisations to respond effectively to both positive and negative trends. During their studies, students acquire qualifications related to developing visions, missions, strategies, and objectives of tourism organisations, as well as their strategic and operational plans. In addition, students gain practical skills such as establishing organisational structures and conducting strategic analyses (SWOT, BCG, GE, ADS) essential for effective tourism management. Aligned with the principles of modern and globalised business, the programme fosters the development of skills in planning, organising, analysing, communicating, implementing, reporting, advertising, and evaluating tourism products. Graduates of this programme will be qualified to work in various tourism-related positions within both domestic and international markets, including travel agencies, hospitality and hotel industries. In the public sector, they may work in information centres, local and regional tourism organisations, development agencies, tourism boards, and other governmental institutions involved in tourism development and promotion.
Expected Competencies
Upon completing the programme, graduates will possess both fundamental and applied knowledge in business economics, enabling them to confidently and independently perform essential business functions within dynamic and evolving environments. Key competencies include analysing current trends in tourism to make and implement decisions that contribute to the development of tourism offerings. Graduates will be able to independently design business plans that make use of tourism potentials and to analyse the tourism market by interpreting marketing research findings.
