Content and qualifications
The study program of the Accounting and Audit Department at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Bihać is established as an undergraduate study which lasts four years and awards a total of 240 ECTS credits. After completing this study program, students become young experts with a wide range of possibilities for employment and further personal and professional development. Students acquire competences that help them to combine the knowledge acquired in several economic areas with special emphasis on the area of business economics and management, and to competently use it to perform a wider range of jobs in the area of economic. Students who have completed the first cycle of this study program have the opportunity to continue their studies in the second cycle, or seek employment in any area where a degree in social sciences is required. In this program, students gain knowledge about taxes, internal audit and control, and functioning of accounting information systems. And, by being trained on practical examples from the fields of financial reporting, accounting of non-profit organizations, accounting of financial institutions, cost accounting, etc. – students are prepared to venture into business activities. The study aims at understanding the financial aspects of decision-making and other forms of actions at individual level or within a specific organization, as well as at knowing different ways of their practical implementation in the context of the financial environment and financial institutional framework.

Expected competencies
After completing their studies, young experts possess knowledge of contemporary research achievements in business economics. They are also trained to critically assess facts, ideas and theoretical assumptions in a wider economic context. Through practical experiences gained during studies, young experts are trained to deal with the functioning and problems of economic systems, and the analytical application of quantitative and statistical methods in economics. In a demanding global business environment, graduates of this study program acquire competencies for performing highly specialized and managerial tasks in accounting and financial reporting of businesses, financial institutions, non-profit organizations and public institutions, and are trained to use cost and management accounting instruments. At the same time, the study program focuses on equipping the graduates with a set of tools needed for the understanding of the monetary and fiscal systems within Bosnia and Herzegovina – with all its advantages and disadvantages in relation to the surrounding countries – and the possibilities of their improvement.
