About University

University of Bihac was established on July 28, 1997. It is a public institution that organizes and implements university studies, scientific and highly professional activities. University nurtures scientific, technical and artistic works. It is one of eight public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are 3000 to 5000 students studying at the University on regular basis.



University of Bihac Rectorate is located in the city center of Bihac. Its address is Pape Ivana Pavla II 2/II. Faculty of Economy is located at the same building too. Other faculties are spread across the city, except for Faculty of Pedagogy and Faculty of Biotechnical Sciences which are located in Grmec campus outside the city. All the faculties are well comunicated by public transportation system.



University of Bihac is made of seven faculties (organizational units). These are: Faculty of Technical Sciences, Faculty of Pedagogy, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Biotechnical Sciences, Islamic Faculty of Pedagogy, Faculty of Economy and Faculty of Health Studies. Rector's message

University of Bihac is a part of European Higher Education Area and as such strives to act according to policies and documents of European Union. Tha main challenge for academic staff and students is to obtain the right response to social, scientific, educational and economic demands. Integration of University, being  a reformation process as such, includes all the actors in higher education.

The International Relations Office of Ҫukurova University was the host of the 1st Erasmus+ ICM week from the 9th to the 13th April 2018. University of Bihać, as a partner institution within the Erasmus+ ICM programme, was invited to participate in this event beside all other partner institutions, such as University of Sousse in Tunisia, Airlangga University in Indonesia, Osh State University in Kyrgyzstan, University of Tirana in Albania, University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” in Kosovo and Kharkiv National Medical University in Ukraine. The representative of University of Bihać was the Expert Adviser for International Relations and Erasmus+ Coordinator, Mrs. Alma Bosnić.
During the five days of meeting and socializing with all the participants, staff and students of Ҫukurova University, some cooperation activities with some new partner universities were discussed and arranged. University of Sousse in Tunisia showed great interest in cooperating with our University, so that the negotiations for signing an agreement of cooperation will be intensified in the following period. Within two calls for student and staff applications within the Erasmus+ ICM programme, University of Bihać achieved very good results with the host University, completely filling the mobility quota. At the moment, three first cycle students are studying at Ҫukurova University, six mobilities of our teaching and non-teaching staff were accomplished in total during this semester, two professors from this partner institution visited our University in the past two months and we expect two more visits in total during this and the next semester.
During the first two days, the host University made presentations with a focus on Erasmus+ ICM programme and its coordination: from administrative and financial details to difficulties and its solutions, but also about the enlargement of the list of partners in the next period; and in the second part, the partner institutions had the opportunity to present themselves, as well. The third day was assigned to meet the Erasmus+ coordinator at 17 organization units in total, between of which the participants had to choose.  The representative of University of Bihać chose to meet the International Relations Office staff in order to get to know more about their organization and work, after that she had the opportunity to meet Erasmus+ coordinators at the Faculty of Economy in order to expand the study fields for student and staff mobility, as currently we only conduct exchanges in the fields of Agriculture, Preschool Education, English and German language, so our goal is to introduce other fields of study represented at University of Bihać. Through the Faculty of Economy in Bihać and our International Relations Office, we have already established mobility cooperation with the Faculty of Economy of Ҫukurova University within the Mevlana project based programme, by means of which we have recently applied for mobility funding for carrying out work on the submitted project proposal and we are expecting the results on the grant approval in the following period. Erasmus+ coordinators showed great interest to intensify the cooperation so we are currently negotiating the details.
Finally, there was also the 9th Erasmus Day together with the International Educational Fair organized, in which our exchange students prepared a presentation about Bosnia and Herzegovina with the focus on the geographical, historical and cultural aspect of our country followed by during Mrs. Alma Bosnić’s presentation of  University of Bihać with focus on international activities carried out at our University. Moreover, at the B&H country booth, we had the opportunity to meet students and staff interested in the possibilities for coming to our University through the available exchange programmes but also to talk about the beauties of our Canton and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The whole event was conducted in a very positive atmosphere. Cooperation with new institutions was arranged, the cooperation with the host University was widened, and we also had the opportunity together with our students to present our University and our country Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are looking forward to receiving our dear colleagues from the International Relations Office but also other teaching staff from Ҫukurova University at our University in the following period.
